So, this Friday evening, I am reading at Bad Advice From Bad Women. I have no idea what to expect. And I am so looking forward to it, in large part because of that.
Lately, I’ve been able to read in more and more readings where I’m not quite sure which way the night is going to go. I’m meeting many new writers, many of them amazing. It’s like last week. I was at the publication reading for Women of Resistance at the AWP in Tampa. I saw a whole lineup of thoughtful, powerful, musical poets. I felt so honored to have my work published with theirs.
I have really, truly been super blessed to not only have my work published, but to have met so many brilliant writers along the way–and some have become dear friends. Now, though, it seems like I am crossing even more unknown territory, sharing my work with writers who have been doing great things in other communities, maybe, or other parts on the country…or maybe coming to poetry from different directions. In any case. it is really exciting! Both on paper and on stage, I will give it my best!
