Small Presses and Making the Best Book Possible.

Books and Publications, Why Dust Shall Never Settle Upon This Soul / Sunday, December 28th, 2014
So, small presses come in many different types–they have so many different personalities, and I have been very lucky to have worked with three very good ones. Biyuti Press is handling my poetry book, which we should be out early 2015. Actually, this book was supposed to have been out in late fall/winter 2014, but I am super happy we are taking our time.

One thing that I have noticed, is that with so many small presses, and so many ways to be self-published there are a lot of books that lack that last bit of finish. Some of it is time, logistics–proofreading, formatting, design–all done at grassroots level. So to get a book just right can take a bit of time.  But that was what I found so thrilling about books as a child.  Nina at Biyuti is a librarian, and loves books, too. So we want to make sure that Why Dust Shall Never Settle above this Soul is worthy of such love, both inside and out. We already sent a printed copy back because it wasn’t quite right–but we learned a lot and I just know the book is going to be something beautiful! I am so excited!

More updates to follow!
