Taking up the Quill: Queer Representation through Writing, Awards, and Publication–at the AWP Conference
Though labels of identity can be alienating, they can also be empowering and community building. We discover identities within ourselves through the recognition of communities in visual and print media. This was the inspiration to launch Quill, a new queer imprint of Red Hen Press which publishes queer literary prose through award submissions. Hear Quill’s editor, judges, and award winners read their powerful works and discuss the need for representation through publication.

"Enter>text is a living literary journal, an immersive series of events where the audience is activated to seek out their own unique encounters with writers. We strive to explore the textual nature of our surroundings, always searching for new voices, histories and fictions." This is going to be a far more interactive and performative night. There will be readings, but we will also be recontextualizing the museum. 🙂

Poetry Workshop @ Lambda Literary–Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices
I will be leading the Poetry Workshop this year. I am truly honored. The Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices was established in 2007 and is the first of its kind ever offered to LGBTQ writers: a one-week intensive immersion in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, genre fiction and playwriting.
